Bandaranaike International Airport is the only international airport in Sri Lanka and is situated in Katunayake in the north of Colombo. The airport is operated by the Airport and Aviation Services Ltd and serves the entire region of Colombo.
The airport is undergoing renovation and they plan to start a 2nd runway, 8 more passenger gates, a five storey car park, a domestic terminal and a 5 star hotel in the vicinity.
The various airlines operating from this airport include Air India, Indian Airlines, and Air Arabia, Cathay Pacific, Australian Airlines, Jet Airways, Eurofly, Condor Airlines, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Kuwait Airlines and more.
The various other facilities provided for the passengers include duty free shops, travel agent, 30 check in desks, 3 airport hotels, medical facilities, post office, cafeterias, bars, restaurants, 575 short term car parking spaces, taxi service, disabled access, bank, VIP lounge, gift shop and more.
