Colombo, 700.000 inhabitants, is a fascinating city, not only for its comfortable blend of East and West, but also for its cosy mixture of past and present. It is the commercial capital of the country.
Very enjoyable. People are very helpful. You can get anything very cheap. If you get a tuk tuk confirm the price first. And you better not travel by a meter taxi till you know the right root.
Lot of tourists travel by bus now. Its very cheap and easy. But its not easy to travel by buses or train during rush hours. 7.00AM to 9.30 am 1.30 pm to 2.pm and do not try it 4pm to 7.00 pm. damn traffic

Beautiful... Happenings all around... Spend a day for a cheap cost with supper facilities. After a 3 decades war, Colombo becoming most attractive city in South east Asia, I assume. And it will be one of the best towns in Asia.
Plenty of good quality Motels and Hotels are available, Public transportation is at satisfactory level, and access to internet also is quite comfortable.

Nice tranditonal city, traffic is slow and dangerous roads in some area when driving out of the city. There is a safe pay road but it is not availabe in all the regions, they just started few years ago. Use those road when it is available, it will save time in your travel and meeting. You may not like food, however there are good hotels which offer variety of food.

Always use a guide book rather than asking from anyone about places. There are locally printed pocket books for sale in book shops which gives you the important places and how to get there including the public transportation root number, time of trains, important telephone numbers, police stations etc. Those books are updated annually.

All is well if you are able to watch your step, control your budget, have decent fun and behave. Stick to the rules think of your safety. Dont mess with the wrong guys or girls, see the nice things and your are sure to realise what a place Colombo is. Compared to Chennai (India) this is Heaven talking of the City or People in it.

There is a very important aspect of development of canals in Colombo which is now a eye sore could be developed into a "canal development programme" which will solve the following important aspects of peoples day to day living, water expenditre could be reeduced, entertainment and healthy life for those in Colombo.

It's a great city for holidays and living as well! The city life is both upbeat and laidback. There's so much to do you will never be bored. Whether its shopping, partying or even taking a day off at a spa, colombo is a vacationer's paradise. You must visit it once at least!

If you have social experience about people then you can survive in Colombo. And you should be a very understanding person because lots of people are really helpful but there must be few people among them who are trying to make trouble on you.

Sri Lanka Colombo is a very enjoyable city affordable. Enjoy sea beaches. Supermarkets are available around. Taste the best food. Travelling is cheap. Plan your trip. Dolphin watching is new event. Just dip in the Unawatuna sea.

This is more helpful to people, who visit colombo. Sometimes its more difficult to find road, bus , places, etc. When we want to find a place in Colombo we can use this and find it.
