The Colombo Dutch Museum is a museum covering the history of the Dutch colonial rule in Sri Lanka. The Old Dutch House on Prince Street, Pettah is a home to this museum. The museum was built in the latter part of the 17th century and use to be the residence of Count August Carl Van Ranzow along with five other houses of the elite.
The museum embodies the unique architectural features of a colonial Dutch town house. The Dutch legacy with the collection of unique architectural elements from the colonial style of Dutch viz. coins, arms, furniture, ceramics etc. are on display portraying facets of contemporary culture and life. The museum is one of the important tourist attractions and can be visited between 9an to 5pm. It is surrounded by various market stalls as well as antique shops so one can also enjoy shopping of antique collection while visiting the museum and experiencing the joy of witnessing the historical architectural.
