Things to Do in Lattakia: attractions to See in Lattakia

Lattakia: Attractions and more...

Plagued by earthquakes in recent times, the city has very few remains from the Roman era. The Lattakia Arch or Gateway is a marvellous structure, with four Roman columns and an arch, located at the south-east corner of the city. It said to have been built by Septimius Severus and has Greek and Latin inscriptions all over it, though defaced.

The Lattakia Museum is worth visiting. Situated in building which was actually an inn, this historical structure has also served as the head office for the Lattakia Tobacco Company.

Located at a distance of 37 km from Lattakia is the Castle of the prominent Muslim Kurdish leader Saladin, known as the Saladin’s Castle. It is considered to be one of the most prominent castles of mediaeval times.

The beautiful Syrian Coast famed for stretches of beaches and green mountains can be enjoyed here in Lattakia. Visitors can experience the lovely beaches, which boast of soft sand, unpolluted sea and a clear blue sky.
