Nazir Ismail is one of the most important contemporary Syrian painters. Born in Damascus in 1948, he started having his works exhibited in 1966 and has had personal exhibitions in all the major cities of the Middle East as well as in Paris, Rome and Geneva. The Goethe Institute in Damascus has hosted a retrospective of his works from 1969 to 1996. He has also won several international prizes and has been acclaimed by the critics all over the world.
In his gallery, located in Tal El Hijara Street, Al Ameen in Damascus, we can admire his latest works, especially on paper using different techniques, where he innovates the arabian pictorial traditions giving us a taste of modern Syria.
