Tainan: Attractions and more...
A mix of exotic shrines and temples, annual festivals, good weather and the Taiwanese cuisine make the city of Tainan worth a visit.
The Chihkan Tower is an ancient archaeological site built in 1653. The towers are home to a museum which contains several artefacts from the Dutch era. It is a major landmark of Tainan and a popular tourist location.
Another famous tourist destination is the Matsu Temple, which is about four hundred years old. Interestingly, this temple is home to a Taoist god who is believed to bless single people looking for a spouse.
The Anping Fort is an ancient ruin famous for its observation tower from where visitors get a good view of the sunset. The Guanzi Hill and the Chigu Salt Mountain are other places of tourist interest.
