Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a national monument built in honour of Chiang Kai-shek, the late President of Taiwan.
The central building is white with an octagonal roof covered with glazed blue glass tiles. The white colour of the building, red colour of the flower beds and blue colour of the roof tiles reflect the colours of the Republic of China flag. The main hall has a huge bronze smiling statue of President Chiang Kai-shek wearing traditional Chinese attire.
On the wall above the statue is an inscription in Chinese about ethics, science and democracy. On the other side is another inscription about the meaning of life, its purpose and the improvement of the quality of life.
On the inner ceiling is a caisson decorated with an emblem of the Republic of China. The ground level of the Memorial Hall has a library and a museum depicting the history of Taiwan and the career of the former president.
