Pronounced as Taipei one-oh-one, Taipei 101 is the world’s tallest skyscraper. The name reflects the floor count.

It is situated in Taipei’s 101 business district. It has 101 stores above the ground and 5 stores underground.

The building is designed to withstand earthquakes and typhoons. The main tower features eight columns of eight floors each recalling the rhythm of an Asian pagoda, a stalk of bamboo.

It claims official records for the fastest ascending elevator and largest countdown clock displayed every New Year’s Eve. Over the whole week, the tower’s light displays in succession the seven colors of the spectrum.

The Ruyi, an ancient symbol of heavenly clouds is seen throughout the building as a design logo. A circular clock in the adjoining park derives its energy from the building’s wind harvester.

A lot of Feng Shui influences are visible, such as a large fountain at the east entrance and more.
