Taipei is a cultural land with no lack of cultural places and temples worth visiting. Taipei has numerous temples in various districts which are of cultural and historical importance. The most important and historical temple in Taipei is the Confucian Temple, built in honor of one of the greatest philosopher and teachers of all time, Confucius. The other important temple in Taipei is the Lungshan Temple situated in Wanhua District. It is the oldest temple of the city and serves as a centre of social activity as well as worship for all local residents. The Paoan Temple located near the Keelung River, Taipei was built in 1805.
It is one of the busiest and the most popular temple attracting tourists all over the Taiwan. Other temples of Taipei include Chingshan Temple, Chingshui Temple, and Hsiahai City God Temple, Hsingtein temple, Chihnan Temple, Kuantu Temple, Tzuyu temple and Shantao Temple.
