The National Palace Museum is the art museum and gallery located in the city of Taipei. The artifacts dating back to the ancient times in China are well preserved in this museum.
This is the sole museum in the world that holds the largest number of Chinese artwork and artifacts. There are more than 700, 000 artifacts in all. However, the space inside the museum is not enough for all of them.
Hence, some of the pieces are kept well preserved in the vaults that are buried underground in the mountainside. The peak attraction in this museum is the Jade Cabbage.
It is a cabbage like structure carved in Jade stone. One can see the use of color variations in Jade. Painting of One Hundred Horses and olive pit boats are other attractive features in the museum.
Most of the artifacts exhibit the royal history of China and one can see items that belonged to the Chinese emperors in this museum.
Visitors can also see the medical books that date back to the period more than 5000 years old.
