Ayutthaya is world-famous for its ruins and age-old buildings. Most of these structures are made of red-bricks and it is possible that they can become loose and might slip-off from their position.
Always pay attention to such hazards when you are near these buildings. The heat can get unbearable during summer times and one should take precautions about packing appropriate protective clothing.
Almost all the attractions have fixed visiting times and the gates close immediately on the stipulated time. One should always keep a watch of the closing time and plan their trip accordingly.
Some of the streets and alleyways have problems of stray dogs. They are aggressive if not outright dangerous. Please take caution in not to provoke them by any means. Walking at a normal speed from a distance is the best strategy.
Take advice of the local police if you feel lost. They are very friendly and helpful. The local rickshaws are known as ‘Tuk-Tuks’ and the government decides fixed rates for a number of hours.
Take precautions to board only the authorized tuk-tuks and negotiate your travel plan properly. There have been number of incidents of conning.
