Suvarnabhumi Airport is the international airport serving Bangkok, Thailand. It opened on 15th September, 2006 after several delays and almost three decades of planning.
It is situated in Racha Thewa in the district of Bang Phli, which is about twenty-five km east from downtown Bangkok.
The airport is designed by Helmut Jahn from Murphy/Jahn Architects and contains the tallest Control Tower in the world. It is also 3rd largest single building in the world and one of the busiest airports of Asia.
Additional facilities of the airport consist of a courtyard Garden, Huge parking buildings, restaurants, internet cafes and a shopping plaza.
Several International Arilines connect Bangkok to almost all the major cities in the world. International Charter Services and Domestic Airlines, as well as Cargo Airlines also take-off from the airport.
The ground transportation to and from the airport is provided by train service and city-buses. Cars, Taxis and Limousines services are also available.
Suvarnbhumi Airport Express project, which is a high speed rail-link, is currently underway.
