Over four-hundred people daily visit the dwelling of Jim Thompson, which is situated along a canal in Bangkok. It also serves as a museum.
The house is beautifully made of teak in Thai architecture and is decorated with interesting Asian art objects and artifacts. Many sculptures are also on display, that was in use almost forty years ago. Collections in the museum range from hair ornaments to stone sculptures.
The enigmatic name-bearer of the house is credited for revitalization of the silk industry in Thailand. On 26th March, 1967, he mysteriously disappeared while traveling Cameron Highlands and has never been seen again since. Many conspiracy theories and mystery tales have been proposed about this.
The house originally was a series of 6 smaller houses which were later combined to form one big house. Guided tours are available for visitors and the house also contains a coffee shop which is located in a beautiful garden.
