The Chiang Dai Market is held just outside of Chiang Dao on every Tuesday of the week.
It starts very early in the morning and operates till noon. It is also known as the ‘1001 Meter Market’ of Chiang Dao, as the stalls on both the sides of the street stretch to almost five-hundred meters.
People from the surrounding areas, mainly the mountain people or hill tribes participate in this market to buy and sell their products. They come in their traditional costume wares and make the atmosphere colorful and lively. Several goods are sold in the market.
They range from clothes to medicines and vegetables to tyres. Rare spices, herbs and tea from hills are in great demand. It is a local market and foreign tourists are rarely seen.
