Wat Phra Singh is located within the city walls, on the corner of Ratchadamnoen road and Singharat. It is one of the most important temples of the city. It is believed to be built in 1345 and the image of Phra Singh Buddha was housed in 1367.
The temple complex has 3 main buildings: Viharn Lai Kam, Haw Trai and the Stupa.
Viharn Lai Kam is the place where Phra Singh Buddha is situated. The building is constructed in the style of Thai Lanna. There are murals on the building walls that depict scenes from classic literatures.
The Phra Sing Buddha image is highly revered amongst the citizens and on the day of the Songkran Festival, the image is mounted on a royal carriage and made to travel around the city in a procession.
The Haw Trai is a grand library containing several Buddhist literatures
