The Hill Tribe Museum is located at the center of Chiang Rai and is close to many major hotels in the city. It aims to educate both the tourists and locals about the Hilltribe’s rapidly changing culture.
It also dedicates itself for the preservation and celebration of local artifacts. The Population and Community Development Association supervises the Hill Tribe Museum.
Main attraction of the museum is the display of Opium’s rich history which spans nearly 5500 years. It also educates people about its abuse. The museum also has educational programs and awards scholarship programs for young members of the Hill Tribe community.
They also raise funds for providing warm clothes to very young members from the hilltribe families. They are also involved in Water resource development using piped water system.
