Thai King, Rama VII or also known as King Rajakhipok discovered the town of Hua Hin. He loved this place and converted it into a palace, where he could relax and stay away from the administrative stresses.
He built the Klai Kang Won Palace in this town in the year 1926, and it served as the summer palace for him and his queen, Rambai Barni. The royal house is open to the public now. However, it still serves as a residential place for the successors of this royal family.
The astonishing palace exhibits its royal status from each and every feature. The whole palace is designed with a luxurious Spanish style of architecture. The design well suits the tropical climate.
Being a summer palace, where the king used to come to spend his holidays, it does not possess an audience room. Klai Kang Won Palace is actually a set of three mansions, facing the sea front.
Largest of them is named as Phra Tamnak Piamsuk. The architecture of the palace makes it look like a huge house, rather than a typical royal palace.
