Samui Airport, also known as Koh Samui Airport, is a privately-owned airport situated at about two-km north of the main village of Chaweng.
It is operated by Bangkok Airways and considered as one of the most beautiful airports in the world which is designed in-tune with the natural surroundings.Its construction began 1982 and it was opened to the public in April 1989.
Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways International are the two domestic airlines while prime International airlines include Malaysia Airlines, Berjaya Air and Bangkok Airways.
The ‘airport’ is quite unusual in the sense that it doesn’t have any indoor area, except for a lone gift shop.It has two terminals, each one for International and Domestic Airlines.
An exotic mall, Samui Airport Park Avenue, is expected to be operational in the near future which will contain retail shops and restaurants. Excellent dining option featuring multi-cuisine will also be offered.
