Guidelines for tourists
It helps to carry a tourist map, preferably from a tourist information center. You will find many interesting places just by looking at the map. On Maenam Pier, you can catch ferries to nearby destinations like Surat Thani and other places.
On the opposite side of road, there are many tour offices, a little market and restaurants. If you are compassionate and respectful towards the local people, you will be rewarded with equal gestures and if you learn just a few words from the local language, it would make them happy.
While you are in Samui, don’t forget to visit the ‘Big Buddha’ and anyone on the street can point you towards this popular attraction. It is always fun to try local transport options like Tuk-Tuk, but you can also rent motor-bikes.
However, be careful as the roads are not exactly in good condition. Lamai Beach is a popular destination and one should try freshly-cut pineapples there.
