The Sanctuary of Truth is situated on the coast’s rocky point at the northern side of Pattaya. It is near a small town called Nakula. Small truck-like transport options are available directly from Pattaya or one can rent a motorcycle or a car.
The complex is an ambitious project of a single individual, an eccentric billionaire commonly known as “Khun Lek”. He devised a plan to build the sanctuary almost twenty-years ago, after many years of research.
The temple is entirely construed out of wood and that is the primary reason why it is taking so long to complete. Although it closely follows traditional-Thai architecture, the wood cravings depict 4 major artistic and philosophical influences of Thailand: Khmer, Hindu, Thai and Chinese.
Most of the exterior part of the temple is already done and the complex is open for public viewing for a steep entry fee of 500 Baht (around $12).
