Phuket is an island on the west coast of southern Thailand and the largest urban centre in the area. Phuket itself and the surrounding areas are home to some of the cleanest beaches in the world with long strips of fine white sands. It is also the location of the movie "The Beach", starring Leonardo Di Caprio.
First up is the famous Patong beach on Phuket, the perfect place to party, play, shop and work on that tan.
If you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter or further from the high street then head to either Kata or Kata Noi beaches. Separated by a headland, these both offer gorgeous clean white sand and crystal clear waters. Kata is more family oriented whilst Kata Noi offers a more peaceful retreat.
If you’re looking for something special then, at the end of a narrow coastal path just south of Surim, navigable only by foot, there lies Laem Singh beach. Unfortunately the secret is out about this idyllic hide-away so arrive early in the high season.
