While shopping, it is advisable not to carry a lot of cash as poverty levels around Phuket are high and thus incidents of theft and robbery have been reported.
Driving around Phuket is very dangerous as drivers have little road sense and when coupled with irresponsible drinking it leads to frequent driving accidents. It is advisable to hire a car with a driver or take a taxi or Tuk-Tuks.
The major worry while travelling around Phuket is paying commission. Taxi and Tuk-Tuk drivers get commission for every customer they bring, so never agree to visit places they recommend.
