Ranong: Attractions and more...
Rejuvenate with a hot mineral bath at the Ranong Mineral Hot Springs just a few kilometres outside of town, or visit the Punyaban Waterfall with its three levels tucked into a mountain. The Grass Mountain (Phu KhaoYa) is so called because it is an elevated grassland, lying on a number of hills.
The Nam Tok Ngao waterfall originates from the top of a towering mountain and is visible from a distance. Try spotting the rare Pu Chao Fa freshwater crabs in the waters. More rare species can be found in the deep forests hosting the 13-level Bokkrai waterfalls, which are 50 km north of Ranong.
Watch your head under the stalactites and stalagmites at the superb Tham Phra Khayang caves. If you’d rather be out in the open, try the surreal Koh Phayam beach with its cashew nuts and sea gypsies
From Ranong Landing, you can take a colourful longboat to Victoria Point in Myanmar which has a popular casino. You must have a valid visa issued beforehand.
