Udon Thani city is situated in Isan to the north east of Thailand. It is the capital of Udon Thani Province. It is almost 560 kilometers from Bangkok. Moreover, it is also a major commercial center in north Isan and the gateway to South China, North Vietnam and Laos.
Its population as per the Census Bureau is 143,081 people. And as per the GeoNames geographical database, the population estimates to 247,231.
This city has a total area of 361 square kilometer of land.
Due to its location near the equator, it receives tropical climate which runs hot with temperature reaching from 82 to 95 degree Fahrenheit. This happens normally in the months from March to May. From November to February, it experiences cool season which is noticeable in the north and in the highlands of Thailand. The southwestern monsoon arrives between June and October, turning the climate hot and humid bringing torrential rainfall.
