Food in Tibet is based mainly on barley flour, and it is very difficult to find a variety. Some of the popular local preparations are momos (fried or steamed dumplings filled with meat or vegetable), tsampa (roasted barley flour mixed with tea) and thentuk (Tibetan noodles dipped in soup) etc. Apart from this, one can also find a variety of Chinese cuisines in the country.
The po cha or yak butter tea (hot salty tea served with yak butter) is not to be missed when in Tibet.
