Subsistence farming is the primary occupation of the Tibetans. Cattle rearing is an important commercial activity; crops such as wheat, barley, potato, rye etc. are the major agricultural products. The tertiary sector has also begun to develop lately, and the tourism sector is growing rapidly.
A visit to Tibet is a bit expensive because of the travelling and permits charges; food is quite inexpensive, though. A tourist may spend between 3,000 RMB to 5,000 RMB a day. |
