The UAE celebrates National Day on the 2 December. This is a public holiday and much revelry takes place.

The month of Ramadan is observed by fasting during the day and feasts at sundown. Many restaurants close down during the day. Alcohol and smoking is not allowed during the month. The holy month ends with Eid celebration, a festive atmosphere with great food on offer.

The Dubai shopping festival takes place between January–February. It is the world’s greatest shopping extravaganza, with people pouring in from the world over.
