The UAE has excellent, world-class medical facilities. It is recommended to carry medical insurance documents as healthcare can be very expensive in this region.

A yellow fever and cholera certificate is necessary for those travelling from an infected area. Make it a point to carry sun block (and insect repellent, in case of travel to the rural areas). Also ensure you drink plenty of water to avoid sunstrokes, dehydration and heat exhaustion.

The UAE is safe on the whole, with little crime. However, western nationals need to be weary of potential terrorist threats in the region. It is advisable to keep away from political gatherings, rallies and demonstration. Do not comment on contentious religious or political topics.
