Ras al Khaimah is the capital of the emirate and lies on the northern part of the Gulf of Persia. It is divided by a water gill called Khour Ras al Khaimah and has 2 sections namely the Old Ras al Khaimah and Nakheel on either sides of the creek. The city covers a total area of 656 sq miles and has a population of 246,167 inhabitants as per the census of 2009. The city is nicknamed as ‘Wild West’ of the UAE due it’s adventurous and spell bounding scenery and beauty. The city has a hot and humid climate in the summer and winters are relatively cooler and less humid. Al Hamraniah is an important district in this region which is an agricultural land as well as includes the international airport of Ras al Khaimah. The Khaat area is another attractive tourist spot with a resort which is known for its thermal springs with medicinal qualities. The Masafi district nearby is known for its natural portable water and orchards.
