Sharjah International Airport is an important airbase for cargo and low- cost passenger airlines. It is one of the busiest and crowded airports in UAE.
After its opening in 1977, Sharjah International Airport has become a first class airport. Due to its luxurious ambiance, the airport has been listed as the Global Airport of the Year.
The airport is dotted with numerous modern facilities like luxurious lounges, phone catering, internet browsing, TV and business class lounge. Visitors are provided services regarding their transit passes, passport and visas.
The airport serves as an airbase for the major airlines around the world. These consist of African Express Airways, Air India, Air Italy, Aria Tour and Uzbekistan Airways.
The airport possesses five terminals for cargo flights. The total area of the cargo parking is about 32, 000 sq. meters.
This is the only airport in the world, where two cargo planes can unload their cargo simultaneously. Disabled, elderly people and children are paid special attention on this airport.
