Bukhara is a historical site with several architectural monuments, lush parks and gardens which date back to the medieval age.
One of the major attractions in Bukhara is the Ismail Samani Mausoleum which displays splendid architecture dating back to the ninth century. It is one of the main attractions in the country and a must visit.
The Poi Kalyan Complex, meaning the ‘foot of the great’, is an architectural ensemble of three stunning constructions, the most famous being the Kalyan Minaret, which is a tall brick tower. The Kalyan Mosque and the Miri Arab Madrassa are the other two buildings which complete the complex.
A site of interest is the Ark that is an ancient fortress and probably the oldest structure in Bukhara. The ruins depict the life of the royal people; it is now home to a museum dedicated to the history of Bukhara.
