Uzbekistan has around 10 public holidays, some of the important ones being Prophet’s Birthday (March), Navruz (March), Independence Day celebrated on 1 September, end of Ramadan (Hait) in October. These festivals are fun-filled at the same time they are not a very good time to visit the country as the streets, markets and tourist spots are crowded. However, those who wish to experience the actual culture of the country should visit it during one of these festivals.
Navruz, celebrated for two days, is marked by serving local dishes, traditional performances of dance and music. Hait is also celebrated with the same enthusiasm. The country is also known world over for its exhibitions of silk paintings, Boysun Bahori (folk festivals) and similar other festivals that goes on throughout the year.
