One of the most ancient and awe-inspiring sights in Central Asia is the Registan, which is a collection of three madrassas forming the three sides of a huge square. The Ulugh Beg Madrassa, Sherdar Madrassa and Tilla-Kari Madrassa are the three main constructions, with a beautiful display of mosaic work, golden embellishments as well as a lush courtyard.
The Bibi-Khanym Mosque is one of the biggest and the grandest buildings in the city. It is a fine example of the exceptional architecture of the era, characterised by the excellent tile work.
A delight to the visitors, particularly historians, is the Afrasiab Museum which is home to various artefacts like crockery, statuettes, glass decorations, coins and much more, from the bygone era.
An unusual attraction is the Telescope of Ulugbek which is an extraordinary archaeological find; Ulugbek was an astronomer and a scientist.
