Tourist Guide Dalat
Located in the southern reaches of the Annamese Mountain Range, Dalat is 1500
metres above sea level and 305 km from Ho Chi Minh City. It is known unofficially
as the City of Eternal Spring.
The name Da Lat originates from the hill tribe people in this region and it
literally means Stream of the Lat people.
Dalat, which today counts about 200.000 inhabitants, was founded only in 1897
by the French colonial masters.
Since the turn of the century, this charming town has been the main vacation
spot for well-to-do Vietnamese and foreigners.
During the French colonial administration, large European-style villas where
built to create an atmosphere reminding of France and most of them survived
the Vietnam war undamaged.
In the middle of the town, there is a small lake called Xuan Huong.
