Hang Dau Go
One of the most beautiful caves in Ha Long is Hang Dau Go. It is situated 8 Kms towards the south of Bai Chay on a limestone islet. There are 90 rocky steps before reaching the entrance of the cave, which has 3 chambers. The outer chamber has marvelous stalactites and stalagmites out of which some have a height of 20 meters. The local people believe that these formations are identical to human forms and are guardians of the cave. This outer chamber has a capacity of 3 to 4 thousand people. The distance from ceiling to floor is about 25 meters and the floor is about 6 meters below the entrance.
Hang Bo Nau
Hang Bo Nau is a cave which is not as large and deep as the Hang Dau Go. Here one can view rocky formations and clear blue water. Bo cau means pigeon while nau means brown. The literal translation of the name of the cave is brown pigeon. As per the local people here, there were thousands of pigeons in this cave in the past when there were scarce visitors.
Hang Trinh Nu
Hang Trinh Nu is also called as Mid Gate Cave or Virgin Cave. This cave is literally a tunnel across the midst of an island which is about 2 Kms in length. There are several chambers along this tunnel which have a unique beauty. The outer chamber is called as Hang Sung Sot as Sung Sot translates to astonishment.
