Hang Ma is one of the favorite streets for adults and children alike in Hanoi, Vietnam. Also known as Paper Offerings, this street has been known as one of the typical frenetic commercial areas in Hanoi since the medieval period. During the traditional festivities, this street is totally filled with lights, colors and sounds, bearing the spiritual life imprints of Orientals. The street is even known for its gable and tube roofed houses which are typical of Hanoi. These are built long and thin having a storefront and the rear has the worshipping, living and producing space. The inhabitants of this street were once the Tan Khai villagers, who today earn a living by selling the paper decorations like paper flowers, lanterns and many other offerings.
