Marib can be mentioned as a city located in Yemen’s eastern part. Everything- right from mountains, gorgeous valleys, desert and plains would be found in its vicinity.
The most significant valley in this city is ‘Shebe Valley’ or ‘Wadi Dhanah’; within banks of which Sabean Dynasty flourished. This dynasty is considered to be the foundation of history of Yemen.
Its strategic position went on to lend itself to its vital role; as far as history is concerned; as old ‘incense routes’ were controlled by it.
Caravans coming all the way from Qana port (on coast o Arabian Sea) used to meet over here.
This way, Wadi Hadhramout could get crossed. It goes without saying that Marib has pretty hot climate. Hence, it’s advisable to avert visiting this place during the summer season. The period between November and February would prove to be the best; in terms of visiting Marib.
