Antigua and Barbuda are considered very safe for visitors, but care should be taken on deserted streets at night. Visitors should not carry too much of cash in person and they should keep their documents in the hotel safe.

Visitors should refrain from strangers offering drinks, urchins etc. One can always seek the help of the local people when in trouble who prove to be very helpful when approached politely.

While visiting Antigua and Barbuda, tourist should consider getting vaccinated against hepatitis A, hepatitis B and typhoid as the risk of contracting these diseases is quite high in this region. There is a threat of dengue and malaria as well; thus, tourists should carry insect repellents with them.

Also, stick to bottled water as tap water is not too safe for drinking. Tourists should also consider having packaged food as against those available locally which may be undercooked.
