The economy of Barbados is mainly dependent on sugarcane cultivation. Offshore finance and information services are other important money earners. The country exports its sugar, rum, chemicals, beverages and other food items to the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, UK and Jamaica The average cost of living is very high in Barbados. Medical care, restaurants, accommodation and travel can be very expensive.
