Barbados hosts several events of religious, cultural and national significance. Barbados celebrates the Errol Barrow Day on 22 January. National Heroes Day is celebrated on 28 April which is followed by Labour Day in May. Emancipation Day is celebrated in August and Independence Day in November.
Crop over, which celebrates the end of harvest, is the most important festival of the Barbadians. Lasting for almost three weeks, the festival is celebrated all over the island with fairs, parades and several contests. The island also hosts the Barbados Jazz Festival every January and the Barbados Holetown Festival to celebrate the arrival of the first English settlers. Barbados Gospelfest is another popular religious event that attracts gospel artists from all over the globe.
