Tourist Guide Speightstown
The charming city of Speightstown is situated in the parish of Saint Peter, Barbados. It is the second largest and the oldest commercial centre of Barbados and one of the main tourist attractions. Speightstown has a population of more than 10,000 inhabitants.
The city is characterised by a tropical climate. It stays warm and sunny almost all round the year and hence, can be visited any time of the year.
The place is named after William Speight, former owner of the tract of land where the town is now situated and member of Barbados’ first Assembly during the Settlement years.
The city was established as early as the early seventeenth century and was Barbados’ busiest port. The city has now evolved into a major tourist attraction as well as shopping centre.
