St Philip is a perfect spot for those seeking to stay away from the usual hubbub of tourist hotspots. This parish is also referred to as the ‘countryside’ by the locals and has an easygoing charm that should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
One of the main attractions in this area is the Sunbury Plantation which dates back to 1660. The plantation has been fully restored with beautiful Victorian antiques and horse drawn carriages and enables visitors to get a glimpse of life in the seventeenth century.
Visitors should also visit Sam Lord’s Castle, which was built by the buccaneer Samuel Hall Lord in 1820. It has been fully restored and doubles as the reception area for a resort.
The picturesque East Point Lighthouse, which is situated above the cliffs of Ragged Point, is also a very popular tourist attraction.
