I've been to San Ignacio and other parts of Belize several times now. After staying at a few different places, the best so far has definitely been the Tia Maria Guesthouse. Located in downtown San Ignacio, it's close to all the shops and restaurants in town. It's also a good starting off point for exploring other parts of the Cayo district, whether that be the ATM Caves or the Xunantunich ruins or one of the several cave tubing options.
I went cave tubing it was awesome. 37 miles on the Western Highway there is this place called Jaguar Paw it is about 45 minutes drive from the city but it is worth the while. You can do a jungle trek then cave down the river and after that ziplining through the beautiful rainforest canopy or you can just walk around the area have a couple of drinks. I recommend coming to Belize if you love adventure there is so much to do it was great.
