The city of Holetown, situated in the parish of Saint James, is located along the western coast of Barbados, Central America. Holetown, with a population of more than 20,700 inhabitants, is home to spectacular tropical beaches with huge expanse of warm and coral white sand.
The city is characterised by a mild tropical climate, and it stays pleasantly warm and sunny almost all through the year. The monsoon season is from July to November. The best time to visit is from December to May.
Historically, Holetown was the venue of the first settlement in Barbados in 1627. The town which derives its name from the stream, The Hole, which provided a safe landing place for the settlers.
The economy of Holetown is mainly dependent on tourism and sugarcane cultivation.
