Cartago was the capital of Costa Rica for over 300 years and there are a number of monuments to pique the interest of history enthusiasts. Some of the popular monuments are the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles, the ruins of the Saint Bartholomew Temple and the Tobosi Eco-Museum.
