The town of San Isidro is also affectionately called Perez Zeledon by the locals. It is largest town in the Costa Rica’s southern Zone. San Isidro is located in the Valley of the General in the Puntarenas Province. The Talamanca Mountains surround the city. The San Isidro is mainly a trade and agricultural centre in the provinces and is a pit stop for traveler travelling towards Northern parts of Costa Rica or other southern destination like Uvita, Puerto Jimezez, Dominical, or the Osa Peninsula. The town is also well known for its trekking destinations.
The climate of the Perez Zeledon is very comfortable as it is located in the Talamanca Mountains. The temperature varies between mid 80s and low 60s from December through April. While from May through November the temperature ranges between the upper 70's and low 50’s with more rainfall.
The town was founded in 1905 and has a population of around 13000.
