The tiny island of Cayo Largo, the second largest and the most beautiful islet in the Los Canarreos Archipelago is situated in the southern coast of Cuba, in Central America. Located in the Caribbean Sea, Cayo Largo has no permanent residents. Cubans stay in the island only to work in the hotels. Most parts of the island remain uninhabited.
The city is characterised by a mild subtropical climate, and it stays pleasant almost all round the year. The average daily temperatures range between 22°C and 30°C, and there is not much difference between day and night temperatures.
The place was inhabited by Tainos Indians eight hundred years ago. There are almost two hundred sunken ships here, dating from between the sixteenth and the eighteenth centuries.
