Cienfuegos is called ‘The Pearl of the South’ as it has all the necessary ingredients that make for a memorable holiday. The Cienfuegos Botanical Garden is more than one hundred years old. It is the largest and the most extensive botanical garden in Cuba and is home to a wide array of exotic flora. The lagoon of Guanaroca is the perfect place to observe numerous species of local fauna. A complex constituted by The Cueva de Martin Infierno comprises the highest stalagmite in the world.
The Castillo de Jagua is a spectacular fortress, dating back to 1740, when it was erected to guard the town from the Caribbean pirates. One can watch trained dolphins and sea lions performing entertainment shows in Delfinario. There is also a state-of-the-art amphitheatre, enclosed in a salt water lagoon.
Numerous small beaches, such as Rancho Luna and El Ingles, provide the ideal opportunity for swimming and other water sports, like scuba diving and snorkelling.
