Marea del Portillo Beach is a spectacular dark-sand beach, located in the backdrop of mountains. It is a calm, serene place with tremendous scenic beauty. The place offers various water sports such as snorkelling, scuba-diving etc. The seabed bears hammocks, whose valleys are covered with beautiful fossils and are home to exotic marine life.
The Turquino National Park is extremely picturesque and contains some of the highest peaks in the country. La Plata is home to the former Rebel Army’s Headquarters and has now been converted to a museum.
The Cruz Cape provides a splendid view of the marine terraces, Hicacos Point boasts of a long stretch of warm and sandy beaches, and the Yaguas Look-Out Point provides a panoramic view of the rugged landscape and the sea.
The capital city, Bayamo, has several historically significant buildings and sites as well as the main Parish Church.
