Havana is one of the most visually identifyable cities in the world thanks to the unique local mix of latin rhythm, 50's American cars, collonial architecture and island paradise beaches. Havana is also a cultural capital of the Caribbean as it hosts international ballet, film, jazz and of course cigar festivals every year.
As the leading commercial city, port and capital city of the island of Cuba in the Caribbean, Havana has moved forward a long way during its exciting city history, from pirates, slaves, sugar, Spanish and British occupation to Castro and the missile crisis. Built around a bay, the three ports of Marimelena, Guanabacoa, and Atarés act as the main arteries into the city and also Cuba in general.
Tourists in Havana enjoy the lively nightlife and latin beats of the famous habanera and salsa bars, the glorious and grand, well preserved colonial structures and the consistant tropical climate that keep the city and the island well above 21°C/70°F all year round.
